Debug Mode:
To access the debug menu, go
into "Option Mode" from the title screen. At the "Options" menu, highlight "Exit." With "Exit" highlighted, press and hold X, B, and Z. With
the buttons held, press and hold Down so the cursor moves to "Dip
Switch." The moment the cursor is
on "Dip Switch," press A (you must
press A quickly
because the cursor will start moving through the other options). If done
correctly, you will enter
the "Dip Switch" menu
with three new
options-"Enemy Level Display,"
"Next Exp. Display,"
and "Debug." If you
turn the "Debug" on, you can do any of the following:
See All the Endings:
Go into the "Test
Mode" from the "Options"
menu. This takes you to a "Ending
Test" menu where you can see any of the seven game endings.
In Story Mode:
Stage Select:
There is a "Stage
Select" at the start of the game after you pick your character. Press Left
or Right to pick a stage.
Maximum Attributes:
When you select your
character, you start at level 200 with
200 Bonus Points. This allows you
to max. out all of your character's attributes.
The following cheats are done
anytime during play:
Boxes Around Characters: Pause
the game and press L once and unpause. Wirefreme boxes will be drawn around the
characters. Pause the game and press L again, and the boxes are more
pronounced. Pause and press L again, and you will turn the boxes off.
Refill Life Meter: Press X, Y,
Z, and Up simultaneously.
Commit Suicide: Press X, Y, Z,
and Down simultaneously.
Skip Ahead One Stage: Press
and hold R, then press Start.
Skip Ahead Two Stages: Press
and hold R and A, then press Start.
Skip Ahead Three Stages: Press
and hold R and B, then press Start.
Skip Ahead Four Stages: Press
and hold R and C, then press Start.
Go Back One Stage: Press and
hold L and R, then press Start.
Go Back Two Stages: Press and
hold L, R, and A, then press Start.
Go Back Three Stages: Press
and hold L, R, and B, then press Start.
Go Back Four Stages: Press and
hold L, R, and C, then press Start.
In the Versus Mode:Select Any
Fighter: You can pick any of the heroes or villian characters.
98 Continues in Normal and Hard modes: To get 98 continues in the Normal or Hard mode, go into the "Options" at the
title screen. From there, go into the DIP switch. Set the difficulty to
"Easy" and then start a game. Reset the game by pressing A, B, C, and
Start simultaneously. When you return to the title screen, it will say
"Stage 1 Continue 99" under "Load." Go back into the DIP
switch settings and set the difficulty to Normal or Hard. Return to the title screen and select
"Load." When you start the game, you have 99 continues on the higher
skill settings.

Debug code (Japanese
version):
Enter the options menu and
press A + Y + C. Enter the set up screen, which is the first item on the
options menu. A new debug option is now at the end of the set up screen list.
Debug code (North American
version):
Hold X + B + Z + Down in the
options screen. Each option will begin cycling. Press C when the
"Exit" option is highlighted. Enter the DIP switch screen and select
the debug option.
Debug mode options:
In story mode:
• Start at level 200
• Stage select
• Maximum or zero life (Pause
the game and hold X + Y + Z. Press Up for maximum life or Down for zero life.)
• Move to different battle
scenes:
o Press R + Start to skip forward one scene.
o Press R + A + Start to skip forward two scenes.
o Press R + B + Start to skip forward three scenes.
o Press R + C + Start to skip forward four scenes.
o Press L + R + Start to move back one scene.
o Press L + R + A + Start to move back two scenes.
o Press L + R + B + Start to move back three scenes.

Additional debug options
include:
• Play all 45 characters in
Vs. battle mode.
• Maximize your character's
power.
• Choose which stage to begin
in story mode.
• Watch the different endings
by selecting the test mode selection from the options menu.
• Enable the "Enemy Level
Disp." selection from the options menu to view the experience levels of
all enemies in story mode.
• Enable the "Next Exp.
Disp." selection from the options menu to view how many experience points
are needed to reach the next level.
• Enable the Debug code and
the "Next Exp. Disp." selection from the options menu to view the
current amount of karma points in story mode.
Collision boxes:
Enter the Debug code, and
pause the game. Press L + Y + R and resume game play. Collision boxes will
appear around your character. Repeat the code again for 3D collision boxes.
Repeating the code again will return to normal mode.
Blue box = normal
Green box = defending
Red box = attacking.
Blue + Blue = No movement
Blue + Green = No movement
Green + Green = No movement
Blue + Red = Damage to Blue
Red + Green = Green defends
with the Red
Red + Red = Weapon clash
Quick text:
Press R to skip to the end of
the text displays.
Ninety-nine continues:
Begin a game on easy
difficulty, then press Reset. Return to the Options menu and select any
difficulty level to begin another game with 99 continues.
Instant experience:
Enable the 99 Continues code,
then press Reset during game play. The Experience menu will appear at the cost
of one continue.
Hint: Hidden arena:
The arena is accessible in
stages 3, 5, and 12 in story mode. Kill all the enemies on those stages
(including the hidden plants and dysfunctional robot on stage 3). Then, move to
the back of the screen (the third row) and stand in front of the wooden sign.
Your character will be transported to the arena where multiple battles can be
fought for experience.
Hint: Keep the Firesword:
Enable the "Debug"
code. Start the game and pick Han, then play until you encounter the first
robot. Hold R and press Start to skip to the next scene. Your character will
have the Firesword and the undead hero will be with you.
Hint: Mystic Roper:
On the tenth level, Town of Traitors , defeat all enemies until you reach the end of the
level. After the last enemy falls, set the Undead Hero to go Berzerk (the last
command on the menu). He will then begin to run back towards the beginning of
the level. Follow him until he reaches a white roper (Mystic Roper), which you
can attack and kill.
Soundtrack:
Play track two of the game
disc in an audio CD player to hear music from the game.
